Murray Scholarship has been established in 2017 to encourage undergraduates, graduates and researchers in the academic pursuits in implementing innovation that can change the mining industry through the inclusion or adaptation of cutting-edge technologies and innovative processes. Dickerson Award in 2005 for his contributions to the mining industry.The Lehmann Scholarship is awarded annually to one or more students pursuing an undergraduate degree in geology or geological sciences. Students pursuing degrees in mechanical or electrical engineering may also be considered if they are minoring in mining engineering or show a strong desire for a career in the underground mining industry. Applications will be evaluated by the SME Tucson Section Scholarship Committee with focus in four key areas: 1) academic achievement, 2) leadership qualities, 3) financial need and 4) mining career track. The recipient will demonstrate an aptitude towards innovation or participated in an internship of an undergraduate project benefiting the mining industry. Student members of any AIME Member Society (AIST, SME, SPE, TMS) are eligible and are encouraged to apply.The purpose of the Minnesota Section, Society of Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships to individuals for the undergraduate study of engineering with an emphasis on those individuals who express an interest in working in the mining industry in Minnesota and to provide career development opportunities for students who may be prospective employees of the mining industry in Minnesota.
