The lake is void of fish. Weekend ranger programs. Mirror Lake and its campground are part of the Kamas Ranger District of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The lake sits at an elevation of 9,900 feet. The campground is at the base of the imposing Bald Mountain in a forest of white fir trees, offering partial shade for campsites. We were lucky to get a parking spot. The campground, physically located in Utah and one of several along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway, is composed of two loops and a spur in a stand of Lodgepole pine between the Stillwater Fork (river) and the Hayden Fork Bear River. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. Without the bugs it would be a 5 star trail for the views alone but what makes it better is how family friendly it is!!60+. It was too chilly for bugs, so we didn’t have to deal with any bug spray. Utah’s Mirror Lake Scenic Byway is one of the most beautiful spots in the Beehive State. The understory is grass. Beautiful views and family friendly. A little wet and muddy right now but doable! Go southeast on Highway 189 for 12 miles, then turn east on Highway 150 and travel 32 miles to the campground.
