Hiwassee Outfitters large wooded campground offers 40 individual camping sites. They are a really great crew with a wonderful set up right on the river! The Hiwassee River is 5.5 miles of Class I and II whitewater with one low level class III rapid at the end of your trip: “Devil’s Shoals.” It will take roughly two and a half to three hours to complete. There are a number of outfitters near the river that offer raft, funyak and tube rentals between Memorial Day and Labor Day each year.
Private boat shuttle will not be allowed also because of limited space on shuttles.This inflatable kayak rental is fun for all ages!
I would suggest this to be a must for a family or group to visit they won't regret it! We took our girls for the first time this year and they are hooked. And I loved that last time I was there I saw Charlie. The staff is friendly and helpful, and having a store on-site is great for the little things.

The workers are friendly and very helpful. It flows in a generally northerly direction for about 110 miles (180 km) from its source to its confluence with the Tittabawassee River creating the Saginaw River, which drains into the Saginaw Bay of Lake Huron. I've been down other rivers but NONE have compared to this one.
The location is very convenient, but the campground has a reputation for being loud although the campgrounds at the back of the loop in the woods might be okay. Same thing for our staff.
