Lots of backpackers camping up at the lake and it's easy to see why. We snowshoed and were in boots for 2.4 miles up or so...made it about 1/4 mile past the 2nd bridge. The entire area is beautiful; mountains + Big Timber Creek. Trail is pretty easy to drive to (my civic would have made it), decent amount of parking. Did see a couple people on our way back down. Each time I’m mesmerized by this… Fairly steep, but the lake was well worth it. This hike is longer than 7.5 miles and more elevation... lots of loose rocks and not a well marked trail once you get up further make this a hard rating in my book! We hiked up to twin lakes first, then down and over to blue lake. Great hike, but the 7.5 miles is not quite accurate. Beautiful views the whole way!! Rocky and rough for most of the hike but, the lake was well with the work.Very easy hike, only about an hour up. However, there are lots of bugs at the lake and the campground, so be prepared with bug spray. One of my favorite backpacking hikes in the Crazies - and apparently that goes for many people as it's usually quite crowded. We took our 2 big dogs they loved it but we were all exhausted! On and off shade spots along the way. Then left on Worlsly Loop Road, till you reach Half-Moon Campground and the trail head to Trail #119. We went in a Subaru Legacy so all wheel drive but not a high clearance car. To get to the trailhead it’s about 17 miles of dirt roads but only the last 2-3 miles is rough. Lots of loose rocks along the trail.
