Peter Straughan (screenplay by), Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is a thoughtful take on complex spy narrative. Tomas Alfredson directs this adaptation of John Le Carre's thrilling Cold War-era spy novel that casts Gary Oldman as a retired secret agent who is pulled back into the game to ferret out a Soviet agent in MI6. This second adaptation was released thirty-two years after the renowned television series Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (1979), just under thirty years after its sequel Smiley's People (1982), and thirty-seven years after the novel was published.


I remember the paranoia of living through the cold war at that time. Filled with political intrigue if you are willing to follow along. Difficult to single out any one performance as all were amazing but I particularly admired Gary Oldman, Mark Strong and Tom Hardy for their work. They really capture the spirit of the cold war era.
