Deadpool (born Wade Winston Wilson) is a Canadian freelance mercenary who became a superhuman with a regenerative healing factor from the Mutant Workshop program. He saves Deadpool's life, yet also manages to ruin it by being incredibly sadistic.

It's fun for a while, and then it all becomes deeply disheartening, because calling attention to the more businesslike mechanics of superheroics isn't subversive when you're also playing right into them. |

Fun and games aside, it is a rarity in which I find myself emotionally invested in action heroes, and Deadpool never reached those heights; it quickly escaped my thoughts and failed to be substantially memorable.

Deadpool is obnoxious and puerile and infantile and has an irritating meta tone so snide that it's constantly in danger of nullifying the entire movie -- and I still got a pretty big kick out of it.
It bets on violent action and the most twisted dark humor that's been seen in any Marvel movie, of course, with Ryan Reynolds' wild role as Deadpool.
