However, I instantly became a fan of the movies and knew this was a series I would want to follow to get my vampire fix. It felt like I realistic look at what it might be like to be a vampire, not so romantic after all. Suffering the same weakness as all vampires, Eben dies and turns to ash when the sun rises. As well as these two books, there have been various other titles that tie into the 30 Days of Night mythos, namely stories such as 30 Days of Night: Bloodsucker Tales, Dead Space, Spreading the Disease, Eben and Stella, Red Snow and Beyond Barrow. Insults aside, I like Lansdale and I'm sure Keith's work is more enjoyable when he's involved on a project he actually cares about. The 30 Days of Night book series by multiple authors includes books 30 Days of Night, Dark Days, 30 Days of Night: Return to Barrow, and several more. Poorly written, predictable and unoriginal. I just picked this one up and it's fine as a stand alone story.

It's nice that you can read these books without having read the pervious volumes, although if you are interested in the history and how things got started and you want answers to all your whys, then read the other ones.
